Customers praised this adapter's solid construction and reliability. It converts 3-prong 120V generators to 4-prong outlets for home panels and RVs. "Works perfectly," said shoppers, noting secure connections. However, it doesn't convert voltage to 240V, limiting use with dryers or well pumps. Buyers must understand electrical systems to avoid safety issues with shared neutrals.

  • Solid construction, feels very sturdy. Built to last.
  • Works perfectly with my generator. The connections are tight and secure.
  • Build quality is solid, and all connections are fully molded.

A very useful adapter to keep in your RV gear

Used this to adapt a piece of equipment that required a different plug. Glad we had it on hand or we would've been stuck. Very convenient if you work with 30 Amp equipment.

Compact and convenient dogbone adapter for RV use

There's one campground I frequent where this little dog-bone adapter comes in really handy. They use a non-standard L5-30R outlet instead of the usual TT-30 RV plug. I've only needed it a handful of times, but when you're stuck without it, let's just say it's not fun.

Worth tossing into your RV power adapter kit just in case.

3-prong male to 4-prong female twist lock adapter

Use this adapter to connect from a 30 Amp 120 volt 3-prong twist lock to a 4-prong outlet. Ideal if your home has a generator inlet and your generator features a 3-prong 30 Amp twist lock receptacle. Includes a built-in jumper sending the same 120 volt power to both line 1 and line 2 so your whole panel receives electricity. Keep in mind your 240 volt circuits will read 0 volts when tested since they draw from the same line. Photo included for reference.

Perfect match for my generator setup

This works perfectly with my generator. I use it along with a manual transfer switch to safely power 120 volts from both sides of my breaker panel during outages. The connections are tight and secure, and the cord length is just right for my setup. It's rated for 30 amps, well above what my 3000 watt generator puts out, so no concern about overloading it.

Incredibly helpful power adapter

My generator's about seven years old. Older models usually have three-prong outlets. Newer ones tend to come with four-prong outlets. Recently added an inlet at my house feeding into a transfer switch by the main panel to run the house during outages. Couldn't find a three-prong outdoor inlet nearby. Honestly not too worried, since if I upgrade to a new generator, it'll most likely have a four-prong outlet.

This adapter works perfectly for my setup. Also, generator cables can be pretty pricey. Since demand for three-prong cords is lower, their prices might drop enough that buying the older style cord along with this adapter could give you the same outcome.

Unfortunately, did not fit the intended plug

Bought this as an adapter for my 220V 3-prong workshop plug. Turns out I ordered the wrong plug type, so it didn't fit my 220V outlet. Lucky for me, I found another use for it. It fits my backup generator's 3-prong plug perfectly. The plug feels solid and should handle regular heavy use. If you're using this for an RV or travel trailer, it should hold up well over time.

Ideal adapter for converting 120A 30A 3-prong twist lock to 240V 30A 4-prong twist lock

This adapter works perfectly for connecting a 120V 30A 3-prong twist-lock source like a generator to a 240V 30A 4-prong twist-lock load such as a home panel, as long as you're only running 120V appliances. I use it for emergency backup power to link my 120V inverter generator to my 240V home main panel that's set up for a 240V generator through an interlock kit.

The single live leg from the 3-prong side is bridged to both hot legs on the 4-prong side. Handy if you have a 120V generator and want to power your 240V setup using a normal 240V generator cord, without modifying anything on the load side other than ensuring no 240V appliances are running. This setup powers both legs of your panel at 120V.

It doesn't convert 120V to 240V. If you need to run 240V devices like well pumps, electric heaters, or dryers, this won't work. You'll need a 240V generator with an L14-30R outlet that connects straight to a standard 240V 30A generator cord.

The adapter itself is about 1 foot long, with an L5-30P (120V 30A 3-prong twist-lock plug) on one end and an L14-30R (240V 30A 4-prong twist-lock receptacle) on the other. Build quality is solid, and all connections are fully molded.

Efficient power split between both hot terminals

This adapter connects a 120V circuit through a male plug to a 240V outlet. Ground and neutral pass through normally, but the single hot leg from the 120V side feeds both hot terminals on the 240V side. Many people use this with a smaller generator, typically under 3600 watts, and have a 240V inlet installed at the house for that purpose. It can power most 120V appliances throughout the home, but there are potential issues to watch for. Naturally, anything requiring 240V won't function with just 120V supplied to both hot legs. Also, many homes have 120V circuits sharing a neutral wire, often in 14-3 or 12-3 cables, and using this adapter could push 20+ amps through that shared neutral if those circuits are both drawing heavily.

The adapter does what it's designed to do, but understanding your home's wiring and possible hidden risks is important. If you're aware of those concerns, you can manage which circuits you use and stay safe, but you need to know what to look for - sometimes that means calling in an electrician. Ask the right questions before you plug in and potentially run into trouble.
